An organized approach to achieve certification to the new standard for learning and development (ISO 42001) in your company is required. To begin the process, you should conduct a gap analysis of your organization’s current processes compared to ISO 42001 LA Certification. This may identify any areas that need improvement. Next, develop a project plan to include timelines, responsibilities, and resources required for when to develop and implement ISO 42001 was developed. It is also essential to train key people, so they understand the standard and its implications. Once you have trained your staff, you will need to create and implement the necessary procedures, policies, and evidence of compliance. Before the certification audit, you should conduct an internal audit to ensure you are ready for the certification. The audit should allow you time to fix any issues you have that would prevent you from getting certified. To qualify for the certification, you will need to have a certification body conduct the certification audit. A Stage 1 initial review of the documentation will take place and a Stage 2 onsite audit will occur. Once the audit is completed successfully, you will be certified; continuing to monitor and improve on your processes will keep you in compliance with the ISO 42001 and its continuing learning processes.
