Hot work activities such as welding, cutting, grinding, soldering, and brazing can generate sparks, heat, and molten materials that may ignite nearby combustible substances. Without proper precautions, hot work can lead to serious fires, explosions, injuries, and property damage. 

Before starting any hot work, conduct a risk assessment, obtain the necessary permit to work, and inspect the area for flammable materials. Ensure appropriate fire extinguishers are readily available, maintain proper ventilation, and use suitable personal protective equipment (PPE). A trained fire watch should be assigned to monitor the work area during and after the task. 

By following established hot work safety procedures, organizations can significantly reduce fire hazards and create a safer workplace for everyone.
