Surrogacy in China is now forbidden, and all medical institutions and medical professionals are barred from performing any type of surrogacy within the country's borders, according to a 2001 decree issued by the Ministry of Health. Surrogacy agreements continue to take place in the shadows, while law enforcement organizations shift their attention away from the same region.
